Little Rock is the largest city in Arkansas and it has no casino. It is not going to get one soon either, because the four licences written into the state constitution by Amendment 100 in November 2018 were assigned to named counties and Pulaski was not among them. So the question for anyone in the capital is not which casino to visit but which direction to drive, and the two options are so different that the answer depends entirely on what kind of evening you are planning.

Pine Bluff is the weeknight answer
Saracen is the closer of the two by a meaningful margin, and on a weekday evening the difference between forty-five minutes and an hour on I-530 versus I-30 is larger than the clock suggests, because the westbound run out of Little Rock carries far more traffic. It is also the only property in the state that was drawn as a casino from the beginning rather than grafted onto a racetrack, which shows in the layout: the floor reads in one pass instead of wandering around a grandstand.
The poker room is the other argument. It is the only dedicated card room in Arkansas, so if poker is the reason you are leaving the house, there is no decision to make. The pit alongside it covers blackjack, baccarat, craps, roulette and super four across roughly thirty tables.
Hot Springs is the weekend answer
Oaklawn is a longer drive and a completely different proposition. Thoroughbreds have run there since 1904, and the live meet from early December to early May ends with the Racing Festival of the South and the Arkansas Derby. On a race day the casino floor is the second act rather than the main event, and the town around it gives you a reason to stay overnight that Pine Bluff does not. The property has 198 rooms and the only Forbes Four-Star spa in the state.
Outside the meet the calculation changes. Between May and November there is no live racing, the floor is the whole offer, and the extra fifteen to twenty minutes of driving buys you a smaller machine count and no poker room. We checked the meet calendar and both floors in September 2026, and out of season Saracen is the better choice from the capital on almost every measure.
What neither drive gives you
Neither has a high-limit room. The only one in the state is at Southland in West Memphis, about two and a quarter hours east on I-40, which is a genuine trip rather than an evening out from Little Rock. Southland also has the largest floor and the largest pit in Arkansas at roughly fifty tables, so a player who specifically wants table choice should know the nearest two properties are not where that lives. Our Southland guide covers it.
Practical notes before you set off
Both floors run 24 hours a day, every day, and the minimum age is 21 at every table and machine in the state; lottery and pari-mutuel windows are 18. Posted table minimums are not published in advance and move with the hour, so expect a seat at a $10 minimum on a quiet afternoon to be a $25 minimum on a Saturday night. Restaurants, poker and racing keep their own hours rather than the floor's, which catches out visitors who assume a 24-hour building means a 24-hour kitchen.
The short version
For a weeknight, for poker, or for anyone who would rather not drive an hour, Pine Bluff is the best choice from Little Rock. For a Saturday between December and May, Hot Springs is better than anything else in the state and the racing is the reason. For table variety or a high-limit seat, neither is the answer and the drive east is the one to plan. All three appear on our in-person page, and our statewide guide covers the licences behind them.
